Kansas City first baseman Eric Hosmer joined the team to Uncork for a Cause, hosting a special charity event to benefit the Greater Kansas City Firefighters Local 42 Community Assistance organization, including several local firefighters battling cancer.
The son of a retired Miami lieutenant firefighter, Eric knows firsthand the risk, sacrifice, and commitment displayed by his father and fellow emergency responders, all characteristics of truly dedicated individuals who put service before self and raise the bar of heroism every day.
Joined by his teammates and special guests, this exclusive gathering featured the release party for Eric’s very own wine, a fantastic red blend from Sonoma California. Guests enjoyed an enticing menu prepared by Executive Chef Jason Wiggin and The InterContinental’s award-winning kitchen, beer and wine, plus an auction packed with Royals gear, local and national sports items, fine wine lots and VIP tour opportunities from many of California’s elite producers.
Admission included a free bottle of Eric’s wine, a very limited release available only during the event. Autographs and bottle inscriptions were also available for a small donation, with 100% of autograph proceeds supporting Kansas City area firefighters and their families. And as an added bonus, each paid guest received free tickets to see the Royals battle it out with the White Sox in their race to the pennant. Rest assured, fun was had by all!
